If you would like to add your personal touch to your nuptials, a tented wedding or reception might be right up your alley. One of the most important aspects of event planning is projecting the number of guests that will be in attendance. For a seated event, you should estimate 12-14 square feet per person. In order to better help our customers we have projected an estimated planning guide to give you an idea of the size of tent you will be needing for your event.

250 60' x 70' 40' x 80'
300 60' x 90' 60' x 60'

Along with planning the number of guests, it is a good idea to figure in other activities, events, presentations and meals to get the best accurate seating schedule. Every event requires some planning, and attention to the smaller details which means the difference between an ordinary event and one that people will remember forever.

When sizing your tent, always plan for the worst case weather scenario. Ask yourself what you will do in the event of rain, because you will want enough room to cover everyone comfortably, or at least have a backup plan to use more of your home, office, historic property or other event site. Tents provide a wonderful ambiance whether it is sunny or rainy, providing both shade and shelter, so don't risk your entire event by waiting for the five day weather forecast to call for a tent rental. A great event requires sound planning.

Garden Weddings and Ceremony Seating

The typical wedding or garden party under a tent or canopy will require space for guests to be seated at round/banquet tables, space for a buffet line, head table, bars, cake & gift tables, DJ table and a dance floor. For a wedding ceremony, one must allow for the chairs, space between the rows, aisles, and the space required for the altar or stage. Please remember no two functions are alike. Each purpose deserves to be looked at individually so that the exact size of tent can be determined based on your personal needs and preferences. The above chart and figures are just guidelines. Be sure to check with the caterer and entertainment for any special needs they require. Our tents can be set-up at almost any site for your dream wedding:

Country Clubs, Backyards, Picnic Grounds, State Park, Bed & Breakfasts, Gymnasiums, and Historic Buildings

In the spring or fall, heating is an inexpensive but recommended addition to consider in keeping guests comfortable. In the summer month, fans are strongly recommend in keeping the air flow moving.  Air conditioning a tent is also available for additional charges. Remember you are creating a room. Also, consider installing flooring throughout the tent or to create walkways if you need to bypass any rain-softened soil.

You can add soft light to your tent with paper lanterns, candles, and strings of lights. Or set-up a disco ball and spotlights for your dance floor. Lighting can create the mood and ambiance that you want. If a more elegant atmosphere is desired, we suggest tent lining and swaging the ceiling with drapery. Pole drapes and center pole wraps all add the finishing touches. All these items plus more decorations can be found on our rental items page. Be sure to check it out!
